The new interactive Diocesan Website went live in January 2010. The original motivation for it arose out of a desire to provide something exciting for all parts of the Diocese to use. The site is simple, easy to navigate and quick to operate. It has been built on a stable platform (DotNetNuke) so it should continue to run relatively problem free as it has for the past year.
The aim of the site is:
1. To provide leaders in the Diocese (and others) with up-to-date information to enable them to be more effective in their areas of ministry. The Ad Clerums, Bishop’s newsletters, Synod papers and minutes, parish and organisation Diocesan accounts and details of current news and upcoming events are examples of what is available.
2. To assist in improving communication between all members of the Diocese. There is a built in emailing function which will work well, as soon as most parishes and organisations have put in their details.
3. To provide resources and information for all members of the Diocese. There is a Diocesan bookstore, manuals, information about the Medical Aid, Pension Fund, Property, manuals and advice to help parish and organisation leaders to do their jobs properly. The Rules and Guidelines are all available in printer friendly versions.
4. To achieve that part of our Diocesan Vision which speaks of achieving a shared vision and practice of the ministry of all believers. It enables every part of the Diocese to take responsibility for playing its role in an effective way. Regular training sessions are held to teach members how to do this at a small cost.
The committee that is responsible for running the website was appointed by Bishop Brian and holds regular meetings to discuss how the site is developing as well as looking for ways to improve it. Feedback is always welcomed, so feel free to contact any one of the committee members, who are:
