	Mark Franklin was born and brought up in Natal, educated at Maritzburg College and Natal University. He qualified as a CA(SA) and then spent almost 5 years in the UK. He then moved back to Johannesburg and has been settled here ever since. He is married to Yvonne and they live happily in Forest Town.  As a youngster he sang in the local Anglican church choir, became a server when his voice broke and chaired the Youth Guild. He has been a member of 3 parishes in Johannesburg, St Martins in the Veld, Bryanston and for the past 7 years, St Francis of Assissi in Parkview. He still works as a management consultant to owner managed businesses, and is an active member of Rosebank Rotary Club. His hobbies are hockey, birding and fly-fishing.

	Berman is a member of the parish of St. Andrew’s Pimville and currently a Church Warden in that Parish. He joined the DFB in 2003 after serving on the Diocesan salary commission. He has recently retired from his position as Deputy Director of the Johannesburg Hospital.
